I heart HōM, burgers and ping pong on upper King St. in Downtown Charleston Sc

After what felt like a year (but was probably only a couple months) of looking  for "THE" restaurant location in the sweaty haze of summer 2010, my commercial real estate clients settled on 563 King St.  The narrow and under loved space would undergo a complete gutting, re plumbing, re wiring, up-fitting and proper zoning over the course of the year.  The result is the just opened  HōM.  A totally fresh modern interior filled with cool concrete, stainless steel, bold orange and blue colors, yummy burgers, beers, ping pong balls and much more.  The ultra creative menu has just the right amount to choose from, featuring items to please any regime, or lack there of (I went for a burger called the couch potato and also sampled the beet and goat cheese app).  After sipping some beverages like the blue berry mojito and indulging in one of the best and most unique burgers I have had in Charleston, we hit the tables for a match of  frenetic ping pong.  The whole evening was great fun, at 5pm there was a diverse family atmosphere but by 7 the crowd had evolved into happily eating and drinking adults, all signing up for their turn at the ping pong tables.beet and goat cheese at http://www.homcharleston.com/A round of ping pong at HoM on Upper King St
