Two new hot spots in the neighborhood

On a slow Monday night it was time to check out the two new Elliotborough watering holes.  Barsa, Charleston's newest tapas bar, is the concept of veteran Elliotborough restauranteur, Drazen Romic.  Barsa located on the east corner of King and Line,  lived up to all my expectations.  We got started by sampling from the great list of specialty cocktails, including two delicious sangrias.   Listening to the Gypsy Kings, we ordered several items from the tapas menu and dug in to the very well designed cheese plate, lovely olives,  mushroom tapenade, and lamb meat balls.  Everything was perfectly prepared, creatively conceived, and generously proportioned.   I really look forward to a second visit!Barsa tapas bar King and Line St Charleston Sc Lamb meatballs at Barsa Tapas Restaurant on King and LineMushroom Tapenade on Arugula Toasts at Barsa in downtown Charleston ScAfter a really satisfying dinner at Barsa my crew and I went out in search of the notorious pop tarts accompanied by prohibition era inspired craft cocktails at the new Belmont. My beautiful drinks and I wait impatiently my first Belmont pop tartWe ordered the cherry and the nutella and banana pop tartsThe belmont is all about the detailsThe Belmont carefully constructs your experience with coctails, pop tarts and the very decor transporting the patrons to a by gone era.  This new upper King St. Elliotborough Neighborhood establishment has the tell tale signs of one that is made to stay.A lively crowd for a monday night at the Belmont, Charleston ScThe Belmont, A Speak Easy in Charleston Sc
