The Weekly Presidential Address for November 20th
Hey Folks,I hope this email finds everyone well in pre-week for Thanksgiving. Please pardon me if I don’t send an email update next week, as I may be in a turkey and sweet potato induced coma.- Securityo It’s Thanksgiving Week – with people out of town visiting relatives, KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR! If you see anything out of the ordinary, call the police or just call 911!o And if you are riding your bike around town, remember to use a lock! I know of two bikes that have been stolen recently – both were recovered luckily, but please be vigilant!- Neighborhood Meeting Summaryo We had a successful neighborhood meeting this past Monday – for those of you who missed it, I’ll do a brief recap – but trust me, they are much more entertaining in person… Jo Dan Riccio, the Director of Charleston’s New Livability Division, visited to explain his new job. If you have livability issues, call his office at (843) 724-3765 or email him at RICCIOD@charleston-sc.gov.o The neighborhood voted in favor of a plan for identified parking on St. Philip Street! Big thanks to the residents of St. Philip Street and Brett Johnson (Chair of our Traffic & Parking Committee) for stewarding the process.o In case you haven’t noticed, there is now a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Bogard & Percy – another big thanks to Brett Johnson for working with the City to get this installed. This will help slow traffic on Bogard Street and add to the neighborhood feel – especially since we now have Enoteca (a cool new wine bar) at the intersection. PS – If you haven’t tried it, you should!- Sustainabilityo Check out the how The Sustainability Institute could help you improve the energy efficiency of your home!o If you are interested in participating in the program or know someone who might be, contact Renee Patey at 843-529-3421 or email her renee@sustainabilityinstitutesc.org.o And as an FYI, the group is going to be speaking at our next neighborhood meeting on December 20 at 6:30PM! Don’t miss that!- And of course, it wouldn’t be weeks end with the update from the City of Charleston! (attached)o Nominations for The Harold Koon Award are being accepted – the application is include.o If you know someone that exemplifies volunteer dedication and service to the neighborhood and community – you should fill this out for that person and submit!Until next week I remain,Ryan Glushkoff
