How Accomodating is Cannonborough Elliotborough

It looks as if the City of Charleston has decided to make our neighborhood more accomodating with the following proposal for a zoning change.  Don't freak out!  This is a great thing.  Added zoning means we residents have even more freedom to make decisions about our property.  Up until now the bed and breakfasts association has held the city of Charleston hostage;  meaning that no one else could legally operate short term rentals for income.  If this proposal goes through all of that will change.   This will mean that formerly scuzzy rentals will be refurbished and furnished for visiting medical residents, tourists, parents, and many other visitors to the city who can't commit to a month or more.  The income from this type of rental is significantly higher while putting your property under much less wear and tear.  The visitors will visit our shops and restaurants causing our fledgling commercial corridor to flourish.   Since many short term residents come with out cars they will decrease  the steadily increasing parking burden.  Make sure to turn out in support on Weds Dec 17th at 5pm in the meeting rooom on the third floor of 75 Calhoun.   Hopefully we can move one step closer to becoming an even more amazing area of downtown Charleston Sc.
